Ellie joined Pricecheck from Sheffield Hallam University after an assignment sparked her interest in our brand. Since then, she’s been building confidence, creativity, and determination in a role where no two days are the same.
Why were you interested in the placement at Pricecheck?
During my second year at university, one of my assignments was focused on Pricecheck, and we even had a guest session with the team. Hearing directly from Pricecheck gave me great insight into the business, their values, and the impressive range of brands they work with. One brand in particular became a real focus in my assignment, and I ended up learning a lot about both the brand and how Pricecheck operates as a distributor. From that point on, I knew it was a company I’d love to work with.
How did you find the recruitment process?
The recruitment process was really relaxed and approachable. It never felt intimidating, and I was kept informed every step of the way. What stood out to me was that Lucy from the People Team actually reached out to me first, which was a refreshing change compared to other companies where you’re just another applicant in a long line. That personal touch made a huge difference.
What skills have you developed so far?
I’ve developed a number of skills since starting my placement, but the three that stand out most are confidence, creativity, and determination.
Confidence: I’m given real responsibility and treated like a permanent team member, which has helped me build belief in my abilities and the work I produce. I’m also regularly involved in content creation, including being in front of the camera, which has boosted my self-assurance even further.
Creativity: I regularly brief our design team on artwork, which allows me to explore creative concepts and develop visual direction. For example, I’ve briefed on artwork for social campaigns, brand presentations, and NPD launches.
Determination: Working in Marketing means facing new challenges every day. Whether it’s tight deadlines or unexpected campaign hurdles, I've learned to stay resilient and solution-focused and seeing projects through to success is always incredibly rewarding.
What does an average day look like?
There really is no "average" day in my role, and that’s what I love most about it! Each day brings something different, whether it’s working on a social media plan, briefing on design work, helping to coordinate a campaign, or supporting with photo and video content. The variety keeps things exciting and means I’m always learning.
What advice would you give to someone interested in a Pricecheck placement?
Put yourself out there and show genuine interest. Ask questions, do your research, and go into interviews with a strong understanding of what Pricecheck does and the brands they work with.
Be proactive, enthusiastic, and most importantly, be yourself. The team values authenticity and showing that you're eager to learn and contribute really goes a long way.
