Job description

As a Contract Packing Supervisor your role includes a lot of variety, supporting the daily running of the Contract Packing department. Working closely with the wider Warehouse Management Team, you directly support both Warehouse Operatives & Contract Packing Team Leaders, ensuring they have sufficient training and support to perform to the expected standards whilst always maintaining awareness of health and safety and safe operating procedures. You will guide the day-to-day operations of your given area, utilising the Team leaders for their operational strengths, ensuring any problems are troubleshooted and escalated as necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Oversee day to day operations, ensuring work efficiencies and priorities are being met.  
  • Support and working as part of the wider Warehouse Management team, assisting all areas as and when required  
  • Supporting the Warehouse Management Team in providing feedback on the Warehouse Operatives & Team Leaders performance and conduct, highlighting where improvements need to take place.
  • Onboarding and organising training new agency staff as needed, ensuring completion of the agency induction plan and their understanding of the Warehouse Operations Manual
  • Carrying out warehouse or company training / refresher training with employees as and when required.
  • Maintaining health and safety at all times, ensuring operations are running to the required safety standards, and any accidents are documented and escalated as per standard procedure
  • Escalating any risks/ hazards or other employee/ individual concerns as necessary to the Warehouse Management or People team.
  • Completing Health & Safety Incident Investigations where necessary
  • Holding Return to Work interviews for Warehouse Operatives following employees’ period of absence from work
  • Charing investigatory meetings as and when necessary, with support from the People and Warehouse Management team
  • Chairing formal hearings as required by the People team (absence and disciplinary proceedings)
  • Shortlisting and conducting interviews
  • Conducting probationary review meetings for warehouse employees, on a permanent contract (with assistance from the People team)
  • Reviewing employee performance and holding meetings as appropriate to discuss performance and general feedback
  • Keeping up to date on changes, updating and advising Team Leaders as necessary to enable them to perform as needed
  • Coaching and mentoring of Team Leaders, supporting in the transition from Warehouse Operative to Team Leader; seeking training as needed
  • Acting as a role model; following company policies and procedures, monitoring the completion safe systems of work and suggesting amends as required
  • Maintaining confidentiality (whilst understanding the need of escalation) and maintaining trust amongst the team
  • Continuously reviewing operations; what could be improved or developed upon and providing feedback to the management team
  • Upholding administration security at all times, ensuring key documents are stored correctly, for example, the RDT checks, any recorded informal discussions or other important files. 
  • Monitoring PeopleXD; authorising annual leave requests, absences and overtime as necessary. Ensuring delegation is set up to cover any periods of leave 
  • Trained First Aider
  • Trained Fire Marshall
  • Locking and unlocking the site
  • Trained to carry out drug and alcohol testing
